Morocco plans to generate 50,000 jobs in renewable

Digital Human Resources Morocco just start with the award of a first solar thermal plant to Acciona and Saudi ACWA Power, its investment plan in solar and wind energy, with which aims to become a benchmark in the industry in North Africa, mobilizing investments 18,950 million (12,350 million euros) and create 50,000 jobs.

In a note, the company 'Invest in Morocco' explains that the country's solar plan promoted by the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy, aims to install 2,000 megawatts (MW) by 2020.

The plant assigned to Acciona and its partners will have a capacity of 160 MW and will have some associated investments of 1,000 million dollars (775 million euros), by the French Development Agency, the African Development Bank, the European Bank for investment, the World Bank, the European Commission, the Clean Technology Fund and KfW.

Ouarzazate complex is the first Moroccan Solar Plan, which envisages an investment of 9,000 million dollars (6,900 million euros) for the construction of five power plants in the country.

The main objectives of this plan are, apart from the installation of 2,000 MW, increasing the percentage of electricity from solar energy to represent a total of 14% fuel saving one million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) and avoid emission of 3.7 million tonnes of CO2 per year.
